United Kingdom: 5 People Injured in London Bridge Stabbing Incident, One Man Shot By Police

A suspect was detained by the Metropolitan Police on Friday afternoon, November 2019, following a stabbing incident near the London Bridge, in the centre of the British capital. As of now, 5 people are said to have been injured, according to station staff.

A portion of the general public was seen tackling a man on the bridge, and then the police arrived, after being called to stabbing near the bridge in the afternoon. The cops then fired at the man.

During the media interactions, the witnesses told that they saw hundreds of people running off the bridge down Tooley Street. And that they were looking panicked and haunted.

The area of the incident is in lockdown currently.

Emergency Services have declared it a “major incident”. The borough market, which is near the London Bridge, was sealed off, after reports of a suspect being spotted.

Metropolitan police, as a precaution, is treating the situation “as if it is terror-related”.

In a tweet, the police said:

The circumstances relating to the incident at London Bridge remain unclear. However, as a precaution, we are currently responding to this incident as though it is terror-related.

One man has been shot by police. We will provide further information when possible.

The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted that he’s being constantly updated on the news. He thanked the police and emergency services provided to the people.
