James Cameron congratulates Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame for dethroning Titanic at the box office

It’s a universal fact now that Avengers: Endgame is the 2nd biggest movie of all-time in the history of the box-office. Just a few days ago it dethroned Titanic from the #2 spot to sit behind the current champion, Avatar. And now, James Cameron has himself come forward to congratulate Endgame, and the entire team of Marvel for achieving this magnificent feat, in just 12 days!

The director of two most successful films in the history of cinema, Avatar and Titanic, posted on his Twitter page, a picture, showing the logo of Avengers: Endgame sinking the Titanic in the water, implying the current box-office positions of the two, where the former has now been pushed to the third spot.

This humble gesture by Cameron also made many Marvel and movie fans delighted, who also thanked him in their own manner. Some of them also wished him luck for Avatar 2 (the sequel to 2009’s sci-fi blockbuster) and said that they are eager to watch the next part as well.

This reaction from James Cameron was also a big surprise for many since on previous occasions he had shown disapproval for superhero movies and especially Avengers films.

“I’m hoping we’re going to start getting Avenger fatigue. Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on, guys, there are other stories to tell besides, you know, hypogonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process.”

Coming onto Endgame itself, then the film is just not letting the fire to slow down and continuing its dream run at the box-office.

The epic finale to the Infinity Saga, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, has so far galloped $2.2 billion, worldwide. In North America alone, it’s already closing in towards the mark of $700 million.

Marvel Studios’ 22nd entry in the MCU stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Brie Larson, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Karen Gillan, Don Cheadle, and Danai Gurira among many others.
