Dhawan's Back, Bumrah, Pandya Rested, Dhoni Unavailable For India's Tour Of West Indies

India’s World Cup dream 2019 ended in a heart-wrenching defeat to New Zealand but all is not lost with the next target T20 World Cup next year. Indeed the tour of West Indies is the first step towards bringing back the lost glory. The Indian squad led by Virat Kohli was announced on July 21 in all three formats.

T20 West Indies Tour, Dhoni Unavailable,Dhawans Back

Surprising exclusion comes from MS Dhoni who recently had decided to serve in Indian Army for two months as an honorary Lieutenant Colonel. The Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, on July 26, made it public that “MS Dhoni will no longer need any protection as he is now responsible to protect the common citizens of India.”

Hardik Pandya has been rested for the complete tour while W. Saha has made comeback in Test squad after suffering from a series of injuries. Jasprit Bumrah is rested for T20s and ODIs and will be part of test squad. Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer made comebacks in ODIs after strong performances in India A team. MSK Prasad, the Chief Selector of Indian Cricket Team, also referred to India A performances for consideration of these two batsmen.

India is going with four spinners in T20s namely Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja and Krunal Pandya.
The most important question, as it has been since the 2015 World Cup, is of no. 4 position. India briefly founded a solution in KL Rahul in the warm-up matches which was evident in the CWC2019.

It was Shikhar Dhawan’s injury that shifted Rahul to the top of order and India tried two inexperienced batsmen at that position. Rishabh
Pant is now settled for the job.

" I felt comfortable there and had been practicing for it,” said Pant.

Team India will try to find the right balance and hopefully a solid no. 4 batsman and a finisher in this upcoming tour which starts on 3 rd August.
