Box-Office: The Lion King Beats Black Panther, Globally, As Five Disney Movies Top $1 BN, Each, in 2019 Alone!
The Lion King has now even topped Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, too, at the global box-office! The live-action remake of the 1994 film of the same name, has been yet another huge and 'marvelous' success for Disney which is already enjoying the top spot, this year when compared to other movie making companies.
Firstly, speaking of The Lion King itself, then, so far, it has made a fantastic $482 million, domestically, in North America. And when it comes to the worldwide total, then it’s collected almost $1.350 billion as of now. MCU’s Black Panther, which was a revolutionizing blockbuster last year, in February 2018, had a lifetime total of $1.347 billion.
Apart from Lion King, Disney’s other film, Toy Story 4 has now also gone past the mark of $1 billion globally, thus becoming the 5th Disney movie to do so, in 2019, alone! It has collected nearly $1.0018 billion at the box-office, by now, and it is still running in theaters.
Before Toy Story 4, the other big flicks from Disney, which made more than a billion dollars this year, are Captain Marvel (released in March and made $1.128 billion), Avengers: Endgame (arrived in late April and became the biggest movie of all-time, with a collection of around $2.795 billion as of now), Aladdin (released in May and has earned $1.096 billion), and The Lion King (came in July).
Well, now, if you take all the 15 movies released under Disney into consideration (20th Century Fox films also included, since Fox is also a part of it) then all of them, combined, have now earned a whopping, and an unprecedented grand total of $8.593 billion—just in 2019!
And the year is not done yet, with several big-budget Disney films still to come, at the end of 2019. They include Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Frozen II, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Then there are also those under Disney/Fox, like Ad Astra, Ford v. Ferrari, and Spies in Disguise.
